Greetings!
Yipppppeeee ! The news last week just seemed to get
better everyday , but we all know that the real work begins
this week. Now we must ensure that the Democrats do what we
need them to do in Congress and we must begin to identify
and support great Democratic candidates for '08, including
candidates for President!
In North Texas , we had some success and there is more work
to be done – thank you to everyone who worked so hard on
campaigns and helped with the elections. We still need your
help in supporting this newsletter-you can help us by making
a
d onation and please forward this newsletter to your
progressive / Democratic friends and encourage them to
subscribe ! Thanks so much,
Nancy

All I gotta say is: Wow! What a week! by Bill Press |
 |
|
What A Week - All I gotta say is: Wow! What a
week! As progressives, we began the week out of
power. At the end of the week, we rule the world.
Well, almost. But taking back the House and Senate
is one hell of a great victory. And let me tell you
- It wouldn't have happened if George Bush hadn't
screwed up so badly. It wouldn't have happened
without good, strong candidates. But it also
wouldn't have happened - without progressive talk
radio. Think about it. Two years, there was no
progressive talk - It was all right-wing - and we
lost our ass. This year, there is progressive talk -
and we won big time. So shows like this really can
make a difference. Not just me, of course. But Ed
Schultz and Stephanie Miller, Al Franken and Randi
Rhodes, Alex Bennett and all the rest. And you, the
listeners. By speaking truth to power, every day -
we helped get American back on track. Be proud of
what we accomplished in 2006. And now - On to 2008!

Post-Election Etiquette by Molly Ivins |
 |
|
The sheer pleasure of getting lessons in
etiquette from Karl Rove and the right-wing media
passeth all understanding. Ever since 1994, the
Republican Party has gone after Democrats with the
frenzy of a foaming mad dog. There was the
impeachment of Bill Clinton, not to mention the
trashing of both Clinton and his wife -- accused of
everything from selling drugs to murder -- all
orchestrated by that paragon of manners, Tom DeLay.
Media Matters collected some gems of fairness. For
instance, Monica Crowley with MSNBC, in the wake of
John Kerry's botched program, astutely observed "how
lucky we are that he was not elected president. ...
The Republicans remain the grown-ups, the
responsible ones on national security."
How many dead Americans has this grown-up war
resulted in? And how darling of Fox's Juan Williams,
upon learning polls show the people favor Democrats
on taxes, to say, "To me, that's crazy."

Election eve rally lays the course
|
|
|
|
More than 300 protesters turned out on election
eve to stand up to President George Bush and his
supporters as they rallied at Dallas Reunion Arena.
Turnout was amazing for the"Worst Ever"
Rally, marking the worst ever president and his
legacy. Despite the large crowd, there were no
incidents or major problems.Dallas police did a
great job in crowd control and protection.
Young
people were out in droves, a very encouraging sign.
Protestors rallied at FerrisPlaza, across from Union
Station and the Dallas Morning News in Downtown
Dallas. From there, the group marched with a police
escort to Reunion Arena. There, we laid seige to
the GOP posh affair with chants, yells, speeches
and even some jeering and boos (oh my!).
Dallas Air America Radio Groups was a key sponsor
and a prime mover and shaker for the event. We
had many of our own on the front lines of the rally.
Of course, we discovered the next day we were not
alone, as the rest of the nation sent Bush and
company the same message the "Worst Ever" Rally
brought to the Dallas GOP (what remains of it).
The link below will take you to the Dallas Air
America Radio web page that has links to photos,
videos and news accounts of the"Worst Ever" Rally.
