Greetings!
First of all, please check out the breaking news
at the bottom of the newsletter link below). We need
everyone to turn out for a chance to show George W. Bush
that
DFW says "NO" to GOP.
Thanks to all of you for the nice comments, offers of
help and donations - they are all appreciated. We did
not expect to be thrust into this role but we thought
since we were the local fan club we should do our best
to continue to support and promote Air America. We will
let everyone know the minute we hear any news.
We still need donations if you'd like to help with the
costs of this newsletter - it's gone up in costs as we
now have over 1100 subscribers- links provide below for
donations by check or paypal.
Thanks,
Nancy Cunningham

In a recent article, Molly Ivins warned that
the last weeks of the campaigns Democratic
candidates will hit the "the Republican wall of
money ". We decided to help our candidates with
a little late money especially for advertising
and GOTV operations! We have created this Dallas
Air America Act Blue PAC to support our favorite
Democratic candidates ...We raised over $500.00
in four days, please help if you can !

What the Loudest Voices on Liberal Talk Radio
Have to Say About How Our Country Really
Works—And How to Take It Back
Incisive political commentary delivered with a
healthy dose of humor—and a decidedly
left-of-center twist— captures the essence of
Air America Radio
Enter, in 2004, Air America Radio, a talk
radio network exclusively devoted to liberal,
progressive talk. With stars like Al Franken,
Janeane Garafalo, Chuck D, Robert Kennedy Jr.,
Randi Rhodes, Rachel Maddow, and many more, Air
America has become an oasis in a time of
complete domination by a conservative Republican
majority.
With close to four million listeners on 89
stations around the country, Air America gives
all of those voters who still feel Al Gore and
John Kerry should have and perhaps even did win
the last two presidential elections a place to
vent their opinions and talking heads who share
their righteous indignation.

U.S. named 53rd in the world for freedom of the
press |
 |
|
Why does Air America matter ? Here's
why.... If you didn't already know it,
Reporters Without Borders has confirmed
freedom of the press is ebbing away in the
U.S.A.
When Reporters Without Borders compiled its
first Worldwide Freedom Index in 2002, the
Unites States was #17, hardly admirable for a
country which claims the patent on Freedom of
the Press. However, this year, the USA has
dropped to #53. Actually, it is tied with
Botswana, Croatia and Tonga for the 53rd spot.

Thanks for all the kind words about the
newsletter and thanks for keeping the faith.
Here are some of your comments:
Thanks!! I really appreciate the Newsletter.
I've been listening Online but feel at a loss
when I'm driving. We need it desperately.
We are rabid Air America fans and, although
our pocketbooks are empty, our hearts are full
with admiration for Air America and everyone
associated with it. If there is anything we can
do please let us know
I tried my best to support it's advertisers
when it was here - ... I didn't realize it at
first, but I actually feel lonely going about my
daily routine without having Rachel, Al, Sam
etc. talking to me in the background
What a great surprise to get the AAR
newsletter this morning. Great job, you guys!I
don't know how you do it, but appreciate
everything you do for progressives in the Dallas
area.

Why Air America matters....... by Thom
Hartmann
|
|
|
|
There are times when doing the profitable thing
is also doing the right thing. That's certainly
what Roger Ailes and Rupert Murdoch thought when
they lost an average of $90 million a year for
about five years before the Fox News Channel
became profitable. It's what Reverend Moon
believes, as his Washington Times newspaper lost
hundreds of millions of dollars and, according
to some reports, even today continues to lose
money. And its what the people who have made Air
America Radio possible - names you probably
wouldn't recognize because they've invested
millions of their own money but don't seek the
limelight - believe. Each of these endeavors hit
nail-biting times.
